Resumen: Muchos de los festivales de teatro en Europa se iniciaron con la misión social y espiritual de ayudar, a través del poder ‘curativo’ de la cultura, a que países desgarrados por la Segunda Guerra Mundial se recuperaran. Así surgió el Festival Internacional de Edinburgo o el Festival de Avignon. En España, el Festival Internacional de Teatro Clásico de Almagro surge más tarde, en 1979, en plena transición hacia la democracia. Hoy en día esta misión regenerativa intercultural se necesita más que nunca, e Ignacio García, el actual director del Festival de Almagro, se ha esforzado en llevarla a la práctica. Bajo su cuidadosa gestión, la 42 edición del Festival de Almagro ha dado un paso definitivo hacia la inclusividad en todos los sentidos. Esta entrevista con Ignacio García profundiza en desentrañar esta visión y sus miras futuras.

A BRIDGE TO A NEW GOLDEN AGE
Abstract: Many of the theater festivals in Europe were founded with the social mission of helping to recover countries torn apart by World War II. This is how the Edinburgh International Festival or the Avignon Festival arose. In 1979, in Spain, the Festival Internacional de Teatro Clásico de Almagro also arose from a regenerative socio-political effort as it was created in the midst of the transition towards democracy. Ignacio García, the current director has recovered this intercultural regenerative mission for the Festival and has taken a definitive step towards inclusiveness in every way. In this interview, García talks about his leadership and his future goals for expanding this unique cultural enterprise.
