Theatre for you
The Theatre for you series is composed of a set of teaching materials which aim to bring theatre closer to Secondary Education. These materials have been prepared based on great dramatic works, included in the current syllabus. For this first series, we have selected Historia de una escalera, by Antonio Buero Vallejo, as one of the most representative works of post-war Spanish theatre. Other master works will gradually be incorporated, such as La Celestina, La vida es sueño, El sí de las niñas, Don Juan Tenorio, Tres sombreros de copa…
The materials offered on this and other works are designed both for the student and teacher. For students, a video is provided based on fragments of a theatre production outlined through an explanatory script interpreted by young actors and backed by miscellaneous audiovisual documents. This video, the main teaching tool, is accompanied by complementary materials for students: a “Treasure Hunt” (a computer tool based on questions the reader has to solve) and a “Webquest” (a set of tasks readers have to do in a team). For the teacher, a back-up bibliography is provided, entitled “The teacher’s library”, which aims to help in the search of complementary materials: editions, studies, digital resources…
Our aim is to put the resources of the Theatre Documentation Centre (library, video library, photographic archive…) at the service of students and teachers, in order to present the great works of Spanish theatre history in the most attractive way.
TEATRO PARA TI · VOL. 1
Historia de una escalera
We approach the life and work of Buero Vallejo and this fundamental text through testimonials, documents and scenes of the work taken from a production of the Centro Dramático Nacional.
